God is All-Sufficient

Read: Mark 8:1-10

The most remote inhabited island in the world is Tristan da Cunha Island, located in the South Atlantic Ocean. It is almost 2820 km from South Africa, which is the nearest mainland. The amazing thing is that 288 people live on that island. Anyone who wants to visit that island has to travel by boat for seven days because there is no airport for that island.

The Powerful Message

Read: 1 Corinthians 1:18-25

Bible teacher Lehman Strauss was brought to Christ through the power of the Word when he was young. His girlfriend suggested to him to read Romans 3:23; 5:8; and 10:13. As he read those verses, he was convicted of his sin, he wept and believed in Jesus. When his son Richard was 7 years old, he asked his father how to be saved. Lehman used the same verses that his girlfriend (who became his wife) had used years before. His son believed too, and eventually became a pastor.

Satisfying the Thirsty Soul

Read: John 4:1-15

The United States of America has spent millions of dollars to look for water on Mars. A decade ago, NASA sent two robots, Opportunity and Spirit, to Mars to see if water was present or had been present at one time. Why did the USA do this? Scientists who are examining the data sent back from those two space vehicles are trying to figure out if life ever existed on Mars. And for that to have happened, there had to be water. No water means no life.

Showing Gratitude

Read: Luke 17:11-19

Do we have a sense of gratitude towards people who have helped us or been there for us when we needed their help? It is very common to “use” the help and then forget about all the help received without showing any gratitude. When Jesus healed the ten lepers, only one person returned to thank Jesus for healing him. They were all lepers, outcasts in their society.
