In the Coming Kingdom, will the Light of Sun and Moon be Increased?

In Isaiah 30:26, it says that the light of the heavenly light-giving bodies will be increased, whereas in Isaiah 24:23, it says that the sun and moon will be “ashamed” and “disgraced” before the light of the Lord. Is there a problem in these descriptions?

DR. GEORGY’S RESPONSE:

According to some scholars, even though the light of the sun and moon are increased many times, the light of the Lord will outshine them.

Some others hold that these descriptions point to two different times in the future. According to them, the natural light of the sun and moon will be increased during the reign of Christ for “a thousand years” (Rev. 20:4-6), or the millennial period. After that period, when the “new heaven and a new earth” (Rev. 21:1) are created, there will be “no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light” (Rev. 21:23). So, these are mutually harmonious predictions.
