The Bible says that God is fair and impartial (Rom. 2:11; Gen. 18:25). And Jesus, as the Son of God, is the perfect moral example (Heb. 4:15). But in Matt. 13:12, why does Jesus say that more will be given to him who has; and whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him? Isn’t that unfair?

DR. GEORGY’S RESPONSE:
The saying in Matt. 13:12 was a proverbial saying of that time. Jesus used that saying to explain the fact that when He spoke in parables, people who thought that they knew something regarding the Kingdom of God actually received less because of their attitude of self-sufficiency and pride. Their unwillingness to humbly accept the truth caused them confusion, and that’s why Jesus says, “seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear” (Matt. 13:13). But those who humbly received Jesus’ sayings had a greater understanding concerning the Kingdom of God than before. Regarding the need for humility and acknowledging one’s spiritual poverty, Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:3).
