Read: Hebrews 4:15-16
Jesus is our wonderful Counsellor (Isa. 9:6), who counsels us when we are in need of help. He gives us advice and cares for us. Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. … My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matt. 11:28-30). Jesus always has a listening ear for us. He hears the cry of His children. God said, “Call unto me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know” (Jer. 33:3). God is all-knowing and all-powerful and can counsel us before we make major decisions in our life. He has sent us the Holy Spirit, the Helper, who will teach us all things and bring to remembrance all things that Jesus taught us (John 14:26).
God gives wisdom to His people to counsel others. God gave Solomon the wisdom to counsel and rule Israel. Two prostitutes came to him claiming to be the mother of a baby (1 Kings 3:16-28). One of the prostitutes had accidentally slept on the baby and killed it. Now both of them claimed to be the mother. Through godly counsel, Solomon gave a test to identify who the true mother was. He ordered the baby to be divided into half. The true mother begged the child to be given to the other woman. Solomon was able to identify the true mother by the genuine plea of the mother. God counsels His children and gives them the discerning power.
Jesus is our great High Priest who is able to sympathize with our weaknesses, because “he was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin” (Heb. 4:15). He continually ministers in our life, if we draw closer to Him. “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16).
