Read: 2 Corinthians 5:7
The definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1 is that “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” The very first example of faith is exhibited by Abraham, a man whose family worshipped other gods before having an encounter with Yahweh God. Yet we can still see the exemplary faith of Abraham, willing to leave his family and land and go to the place that God will show him. Abraham had no idea or any GPS system to know where he was going. He walked by faith. Similarly, Ruth the Moabite widow, chose to live with her widowed mother-in-law Naomi. Ruth could have chosen to go back to Moab and follow their gods. Instead, she says to Naomi that “Your people are my people and your God my God” (Ruth 1:16). She chose to live among the Jews and worship Yahweh God. God honoured Ruth and provided her a husband, Boaz, whom we see as the great grandfather of King David.
God Almighty is all-knowing. Nothing is hidden from Him. The prophets and apostles in the Bible did not expect any reward for their work, but they had great faith that God was in charge of everything. We must not put our focus on what we see, but have faith that God is able to make everything happen for His own glory. We need to put our faith only in Yahweh God and not on people or riches, because they may change, but Jesus is the same, yesterday, today, and forever.
