Read: Psalm 119:105-112

The function of GPS in a car is to direct us to the right destination. When we take a wrong turn, it reroutes us. But it never gives up until we reach our destination. You can ignore it or switch it off, but if you follow it, it makes your journey more enjoyable and peaceful. God’s Word always guides us when we are going through a difficulty in our lives. When we are feeling caught up in an adversity, His Word gives us the assurance to wait upon Him. When we cry out to God, He hears our prayers and directs us to the correct path that we need to take. “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left” (Isa. 30:21). Ps. 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

When David was running from his enemies, his prayers were always centred on seeking God’s guidance. “Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths.Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day” (Ps. 25:4-5). God always directed David’s steps.

God is our Shepherd (Ps. 23:1) and we are His sheep. We are solely dependent on Him alone when we graze through difficult hills and valleys. We must be able to tune in to His voice, our Master’s voice. Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they will follow me” (John 10:27). Are we His sheep? There might be distractions from the world, which are not from God. Do we approach Him for guidance with a humble and contrite spirit? God will not despise a broken and contrite spirit (Ps. 51:17). Sometimes you tend to take the wrong path, even after hearing God’s voice. If you have made the wrong decision out of disobedience, humble yourself and seek His mercy, He will surely guide you. “For with God nothing is impossible” (Luke 1:37).
