Read: John 21
A person sentenced to death will know the real meaning of getting a second chance. He or she must have done horrible things in life, but would be at the mercy of the judge to give them a second chance by appealing for life imprisonment instead of death. They would know the real value of life after getting the second chance from the verdict of the judge. The Bible says, “The Lord is our judge, The Lord is our lawgiver, The Lord is our King; He will save us” (Isa. 33:22). If we humbly confess before God, He will give us a second chance. “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
Peter denied Jesus thrice when He was arrested. Peter openly denied that he didn’t have anything to do with Jesus (Luke 22:54-62). But after denying Jesus, Peter went out and wept bitterly. Jesus gave him a second chance. When Jesus met Peter after His resurrection by the shore of the Sea of Tiberias, He said to Peter, “Feed my sheep” (John 21:17). Jesus gave him a second chance.
Jesus gives everyone a second chance. God does not want anyone of us to perish. He wants us to receive eternal life by accepting Jesus as our Lord. “God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:17). “God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8). We are all sinners, but God gives us a second chance to repent, believe and accept His Son Jesus. Are you willing?
