Read: Psalm 91:1-16
God provides safety and security to His people when they travel through unforeseen situations. God is all-knowing and sees that His people are protected from danger. God is our Shield, our Refuge and Fortress. In medieval times, a fortress was built to protect the city from being invaded by other enemies. When arrows or cannon balls were shot through, the fortress took their impact, protecting the people inside the city. As God is our Fortress, He will block the stray arrows thrown at us by the enemy (Ps. 91:5). Like a mother hen that protects her chicks under her wings, God will cover you with His wings (Ps. 91:4).
God protected the Israelites when they passed through the Judean wilderness for 40 years. It was not an easy journey, but God was their keeper (Ps. 121). God provided them manna as food, and water in the desert. “And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night” (Exod. 13:21). Their clothes did not wear off and their feet did not swell for 40 years (Deut. 8:4).
God sends divine intervention to help His people. “For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways” (Ps. 91:11). God used heavenly forces to fight the war with the King of Syria and his army (2 Kings 6:17). When Jesus fasted and prayed for 40 days, the devil tempted Him. When the devil left, the angels came and ministered to Jesus (Matt. 4:11).
Jesus has promised, “Whoever comes to me, I will not cast out” (John 6:37). If you need God’s help, approach Him. God has said, “He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him” (Ps. 91:15). Jesus Himself said, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand” (John 10:28-29). Despite whatever we face, we are absolutely secure in the arms of our Lord.
