Read: Matthew 7:24-27

When we plan to do certain things in life like what to study, whom to marry, where to settle down, where to work, build a house, etc., do we ask God in prayer for an answer? The Bible says, “Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established” (Prov. 16:3). Again, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:6-7).

“There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand” (Prov. 19:21). Humanly speaking, we plan many things ahead; but without God in the equation, our plans can all go in vain. The people who tried to build the tower of Babel did not consult God before they started the project. Pride filled their heart and they thought that they could accomplish building the tower till the heavens. God confused their language and they were not able to complete the task.

We may have the qualifications for the best job or the money to buy the best house, but without God, nothing will work. Like the wise man, if we build our house on Jesus Christ the Rock, our house will stand, even when rain or storms (difficulties) come (Matt. 7:24-25). If we plan anything with Jesus being our Rock and Cornerstone, we don’t need to worry. He will make our plans successful. “Delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Ps. 37:4). About His children, God has thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give them a future and a hope (Jer. 29:11).
