Read: Isaiah 49:15-16
A mother can never forget the child she bore. Her love develops for the child instantly. God assures us that even if our mother forgets us, He will not forget us. He has engraved us on the palm of His hands. The meaning of “engrave” is to cut or carve on a hard surface, which cannot be erased. Likewise, God never forgets us. We are in His hands, always visible to Him. Our friends might forget us after a season in life. We might feel lonely and depressed. But we can be assured that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb. 13:8). He will continue to remember us daily.
Joseph was in the prison with the cupbearer and baker. After the cupbearer was released from prison as per Joseph’s correct interpretation of the dream, Joseph asked the cupbearer to mention about him to Pharaoh, but the cupbearer forgot (Gen. 40:14). Only after 2 years, he remembered Joseph. In that period, Joseph was still in prison but God never forgot Joseph and made him the second in command to Pharaoh for correctly interpreting his dream. Also, God never forgot the promise that He made to Abraham that his descendants would be like the stars in the sky (Gen. 15:5) and blessed him with Isaac when he was 100 years old.
If you have been an effective witness for Christ, God never forgets your work and labour of love that you have shown towards His name in ministering to others (Heb. 6:10). Missionaries and pastors who have left their homes and families for Christ might be long forgotten when they return to their home country, but their labour would not be forgotten by God. God promises them the crown of life (James 1:12) and eternity in Heaven for bearing the body marks of Christ. We might also be in a situation where we helped someone and they forgot our help after some time. Sometimes promises declared by men might not be fulfilled. Never mind. God knows your feelings. Be assured that you are not forgotten by God.
