Read: Psalm 119:147
In the present times, our life is surrounded by too many activities that we need to execute. Even if we are busy, do we get time to begin our day by seeking and being in God’s Word? Do we spend our time asking Him for wisdom to lead us during the day? David specifically prayed to God in the mornings. Ps. 5:3 says, “In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.” Even when David was busy fighting against the Philistines or as a king ruling over Israel, he still had time to be in God’s presence. Abraham arose early in the morning and worshipped God (Gen. 19:27). Jesus set an example of rising early in the morning to pray to His Heavenly Father, after the previous night’s busy ministry work of healing and delivering the sick, the blind and the demon-possessed (Mark 1:35).
We might have many excuses not to read God’s Word or pray. We have the time to eat and do other things. Do we give priority to God’s Word even before we read our newspapers? If not, try to read the Bible and sink in God’s Word before we begin any of our daily activities. If we choose to be with God first, we will be able to bear much fruit. Without God we are not able to do anything (John 15:5). God gives us wisdom to begin our day and it is important that we listen to His voice first.
