Read: Psalm 4:7
In David’s time, the joy and hope of many rested upon the outcome of the year’s harvest. If there was a good harvest, the community rejoiced. If the crops failed, the community was heartbroken. But David experienced a joy that flourished even when there was a poor harvest. He treasured a joy that thrived even through drought. David knew a joy that was pure joy. Such joy is found in only one person: the true living God.
The external situations may not be favourable. The unexpected may happen. But knowing God and walking with Him on a daily basis is the reason for real lasting joy despite external circumstances. His presence will assure us that He is on the throne and He is in full control of your life.
