Read: Ecclesiastes 12:14

There are people who pretend to live a life of holiness, but they do not have a clean heart. Jesus condemned the Pharisees and religious leaders for not practising what they preached. Jesus openly addressed them as hypocrites and blind guides (Matt. 23). God will bring every deed into judgement, including every hidden thing, whether good or evil (Eccl. 12:14). Our God is holy and He expects His people to be true to Him and obey His commandments faithfully. There are several incidents in the Bible where God exposed the sins of people who disobeyed Him.

David’s adultery with Bathsheba and treacherously killing her husband Uriah was exposed by God through prophet Nathan (2 Sam. 11-12). David corrected his mistakes by having a repentant heart and admitting it openly before God. God forgave David. In another instance, God forbade the Israelites from taking anything from Jericho after defeating it. But Achan disobeyed God due to his greed and took things for himself. God revealed Achan’s actions openly to the public and he and his family were stoned to death in the Valley of Achor (Josh. 7). Achan did not have a repentant heart, hence his life was not spared and his descendants perished.

If you have disobeyed God’s commandments, return to God with a repentant heart (Joel 2:12-17). The Bible says that if you have disobeyed one commandment, you have disobeyed all the commandments (Jas. 2:10). Ps. 103:8 says, “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.” If you have a repentant heart, He will turn and be gracious upon you and bless you as He blessed David.
