Read: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
Would you like your thoughts for the past one year being flashed on a screen for all your friends and relatives to see? If such a thing was a possibility, you would run away from that place to some distant place where none of your friends would see you again. The evil imaginations and thoughts reveal the presence of our old sinful tendencies. In fact, it would be the total of our thoughts that makes up our true spiritual picture.
Every thought that develops within us makes its contribution, and the sum total produces the real you and me. Impure thoughts have the power to infect the soul and mind which will lead to greater acts of sinning against God. That’s why it is absolutely imperative that we fill our minds with truth from God’s Word and instantly reject those evil thoughts that attempt to infect us. Just as a computer antivirus scans every information that goes out as well as comes into your computer via the internet, we should allow the truth of God’s Word to scan and correct the thoughts that invade us. The Holy Spirit is ready to help us “bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Cor. 10:5).
The apostle Paul mentions in Phil. 4:8 the things that you should be thinking about. “Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” It can be said that it is God’s recipe for your thought life.
