Read: Proverbs 15:13
Everyone loves to be in the company of those who are cheerful because their happiness radiates to others also. A joyful heart is a good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up bones (Prov. 17:22). God wants us to be cheerful and happy irrespective of the difficulties we face. We can always remain happy in the Lord through our good and bad situations as “The joy of the Lord is our strength” (Neh. 8:10).
One best way to be happy is having a content heart. Being thankful and singing praises to our God at all times can keep us cheerful. For the person who is happy, his life is a continual feast, whereas for the despondent, every day is a day of trouble (Prov. 15:15). When others are happy be happy with them, and if they are sad, share their sorrow (Rom. 12:15). On hearing the good news that her relative Elizabeth was expecting a baby in her old age, Mary went to meet her and stayed with her. She wanted to share the joy with Elizabeth as Mary was also carrying Jesus in her womb (Luke 1:39-56). Together, both of them were able to glorify God.
If you are going through a sad time, meditate on God’s promises that He is able to deliver you through all the difficult situations in your life. Jesus said to those who are burdened and heavy laden to come to Him so that He would give them rest. His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matt. 11:28-29). Even if you are presently sad, He will once again fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy (Job 8:21). Jesus will wipe every tear from your eyes and there will be sorrow no more, for the former things have passed away (Rev. 21:4). Continue to remain happy in Him and sing praises to Him.
Yes, being content and thankful is the key to happiness.
Thank you.
