Read: Matthew 25:23
A 4-year old girl sensed her mother’s enthusiasm as she prepared to invite the pastor and his wife to their home. She also helped her mother in making the cookie doughs. Her mother was elated by the daughter’s actions of how she wanted to serve her guests. Our Heavenly Father also expects the same from us. A willing heart to give our time, effort, and finance for the service of spreading of the gospel is acceptable in God’s sight. Paul the apostle said, “For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have” (2 Cor. 8:12).
Our Heavenly Father observes our service for Him. Even when we have done what He has commanded us to do, we must admit that “We are unprofitable servants” (Luke 17:10). Yet one day our Lord will say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Why? Because He sees the heart. He takes note of our willingness as He did with the two faithful servants who did what they could do with what they had (Matt. 25:14-30). And He often puts up with our blunders because He knows that our heart is right and that we are doing our best for His glory.
Are you afraid whether what you are doing for the Lord is not adequate? Serve Him out of love and with a willing attitude. In God’s service, the greatest thing that the Lord looks is our availability for Him. Strive to give Him the best your life can afford. Some day you will hear Him say, “Well done.”
