Jesus our Redeemer

Read: Romans 3:23-24

A redeemer is a person who comes to save, rescue, or deliver someone out of trouble by paying a great price for his or her freedom. Jesus Christ is our living Redeemer because He came to save and deliver us out of sin by paying a great price for it. The price that Jesus Christ paid for our deliverance from sin was His life. He died on the cross for our sins so that He may redeem us, deliver us, and save us from our sins.

A Heavenly Perspective

Read: 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Fanny Crosby lost her sight as a child. Yet, she went on to become one of the most famous lyricists of Christian hymns. In her lifetime, she wrote over 9,000 hymns. Among them are favourites like “Blessed Assurance” and “To God be the Glory.” Many people felt sympathy for Fanny. A preacher once told her, “I think it is a great pity that the Master did not give you sight when He showered so many other gifts upon you.” She replied, “Do you know that if at birth I had been able to make one petition, it would have been that I was born blind? … Because when I get to heaven, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Saviour.”

A Good Word

Read: Proverbs 12

An encouraging word can be like a balm for a hurting soul. The Bible says, “Pleasant words are like a honey comb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones” (Prov. 16:24). In this world, people get hurt due to unkind and harsh words spoken to them, causing them to go through depression or feeling worthless. “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad” (Prov. 12:25). Good friends always encourage their friends when they are feeling low. In the Bible, we see the friendship of Jonathan and David. Jonathan’s father King Saul wanted to kill David out of jealousy, but his friend protected him and always encouraged him.

A Good Soldier of Christ

Read: 2 Timothy 2:3

A good soldier is trained to endure hardship. Rain or shine, day or night will not affect his preparedness for battle. His sole aim will be to defend his people and defeat the enemy. He will always be focussed on his goal and never waver when distractions come. A soldier is fully prepared for battle by wearing his helmet, shoes, belt, weapon, bulletproof vest, etc. to withstand the attack of the enemy.
