Read: Matthew 10:30-35

Nabeel Qureshi was a former Muslim who accepted Christ. He had to leave his Islamic faith and culture to stand for the Lord. Although he was the only person in his family to accept Christ, he was able to share his faith to millions worldwide before succumbing to stomach cancer in September, 2017. Nabeel personally testified that he experienced the emotional pain after his parents came to know that he was a Christian. The Bible strengthened him to follow Christ. Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me” (Matt. 16:24).

If you are the only one in your family or society or community who is following Christ, be encouraged that you are not alone. Accepting Christ as your Lord can bring division in your family (Matt. 10:34-35). “Blessed are you, if you are mourning, you will be comforted” (Matt. 5:4). “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.  Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matt. 5:10-12).

Even if we are standing alone for Christ, do not be disheartened or fall back on your faith. Jesus said, “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven” (Matt. 10:32). Therefore, “be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Cor. 15:58).
