The Finished Work of Jesus Christ

Read: John 19:28-30

Most Christians begin well, but finishing well is entirely another matter. Jesus was a finisher. He completed the work of redemption that He came to accomplish. He left nothing undone. In the last hours of His earthly life, He could pray to His Father, “I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do” (John 17:4). Jesus our Redeemer

Read: Romans 3:23-24

A redeemer is a person who comes to save, rescue, or deliver someone out of trouble by paying a great price for his or her freedom. Jesus Christ is our living Redeemer because He came to save and deliver us out of sin by paying a great price for it. The price that Jesus Christ paid for our deliverance from sin was His life. He died on the cross for our sins so that He may redeem us, deliver us, and save us from our sins.

A Heavenly Perspective

Fanny Crosby lost her sight as a child. Yet, she went on to become one of the most famous lyricists of Christian hymns. In her lifetime, she wrote over 9,000 hymns. Among them are favourites like “Blessed Assurance” and “To God be the Glory.” Many people felt sympathy for Fanny. A preacher once told her, “I think it is a great pity that the Master did not give you sight when He showered so many other gifts upon you.” She replied, “Do you know that if at birth I had been able to make one petition, it would have been that I was born blind? … Because when I get to heaven, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Saviour.”
