Read: 2 Corinthians 4:1-6

When World War II ended, peace was declared. But many who were affected did not know that the war had ended. One of them was Lieutenant Hiroo Onoda of the Japanese army who was stationed in Philippines. Attempts were made to track him. Even leaflets were dropped over his location. Since in 1945 Onoda received the last message to stay and fight, he thought the later leaflets were tricks of the enemy. In 1974, his former commanding officer travelled from Japan to Philippines and relieved Onoda of duty. Only then did Onoda believe that the war had ended almost 30 years before.

With regard to the gospel of Jesus Christ, many have not heard or they do not believe that Jesus “has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel” (2 Tim. 1:10). Even those who claim to have believed still live defeated lives, trying to rely on one’s own strength.

Everyone needs to know the good news of Christ’s victory over sin and death. Sometimes they may respond with doubt and denial, but do not lose heart. Think about the joy and freedom they will experience when they know that Jesus has already won the battle. Will you choose to tell them?
