Read: Philippians 4:6
Anxiety is not only uncomfortable but it can also have negative effects. When you are anxious, reasoning becomes clouded. An anxious person will have trouble making wise decisions. The fear of failure can also lead to procrastination and lack of productivity. Anxiety can destroy emotional and spiritual growth, and also relationships. I once saw the word “FEAR” as an acronym, which when expanded reads as “False Evidence Appearing Real.” That itself is self-explanatory. Handling fear is important in a believer’s life.
When you think you are anxious, ask yourself, “What are the circumstances surrounding my feelings? What initiated them? What am I telling myself now?” Remember that God loves you and He is in sovereign control of your situation. Therefore, bring your anxiety to the Lord.
If you are a son/daughter of the heavenly Father through His Son Jesus Christ, you have the authority and power in Jesus’ name to reject what isn’t from Him. Let verses like Matt. 10:31 and Prov. 1:33 strengthen you. Let God’s truth cast away any wrong thinking.
Take your eyes off your circumstances and focus on the One who promises to help. Isa. 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” What a blessed assurance.
You do not have control over your circumstances, but you determine how you respond to those circumstances. God’s presence with you and your trust in Him will ensure that fears don’t wreck your mental and spiritual wellbeing.
