Read: Proverbs 16:9
It is very normal for us to plan and chart our schedule, hoping to complete the task in a required time. God guides us and works in ways we can’t predict. He can even use inconveniences to bring honour to His name. Jonah was given an assignment to go to Nineveh and tell the people to repent of their sins, but he chose to go to Tarshish, disobeying God. God changed his destination by sending a storm. He was cast off the ship into the sea and swallowed by a big fish (Jonah 1:17). Jonah 2:10 says that God spoke unto the fish and it vomited Jonah onto dry land. God made Jonah go to Nineveh, though he didn’t want to go.
Jonah spoke to the Ninevites (a pagan sect that did not know Yahweh God) about their wickedness and the Ninevites believed in God, proclaimed a fast from the greatest to the least (Jonah 3:5). They repented of their evil deeds and God saved them.
God can direct our steps in ways that we cannot fathom for His own glory. God wants no one to perish but have eternal life. God can orchestrate people in our lives that we know Him and accept Him as our personal Saviour.
