Read: Romans 4:20-21

Recently the Indian Government has been giving promises of making India free of corruption. We are not sure if those promises would be fulfilled. God promised Abraham that his offspring would be like the stars in the sky (Gen. 15:5). Abraham trusted that God would be able to give him an offspring in his advanced age. He glorified God though he had to wait till the promise had to be fulfilled. Are we waiting on God’s promises, though it takes time till fulfilment? After several years of God’s promise to Abraham, his descendants (the Israelites) would have perished in the severe famine. But God kept the promise that He had given to Abraham, by allowing Joseph to be governor of Egypt (second in command to Pharaoh). As a result, Joseph could bring his family comprising of over 70 people to Egypt where they dwelt in the land of Goshen (Gen. 47:27) and multiplied.

Joseph trusted in God’s promises that the Israelites would one day return to their Promised Land Canaan. Therefore, he made the Israelites to swear an oath to take his bones, once they left Egypt (Gen. 50:25).

Through God’s Word, He comforts us with His promises. Are we willing to be fully reassured and stand on the promises of Christ? 2 Cor. 1:20 rightly says, “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
