Read: Luke 9:57-62

Saying goodbye to family, friends, a favourite place, a livelihood, etc. can be hard. In our passage for today, Jesus describes the cost of being His disciple. A person said to Jesus, “Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.” But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:61-62). Is Jesus asking His disciples to say goodbye to every relationship considered precious?

In many cultures, people say “See you again” when they say goodbye to someone. When you become a disciple of Jesus, it means sometimes others will reject us. However, it does not mean that we have to forget all our past relationships. God expects us to follow Him wholeheartedly. Then, we will be able to see others from the correct perspective.

God wants the best for us and we must be keen to keep Him over everything else in our life. Following Jesus will give you the correct perspective regarding everything in life.

If you have been blessed or encouraged today, would you consider donating to support the Pointer to Eternity ministry?
