Read: 1 Samuel 17:32-51

When Goliath the giant was challenging the armies of Israel, he appeared invincible. He was 9 feet tall, and his coat of armour with bronze plates, and the shaft of his spear wrapped with cords clearly indicated that he was invincible. All the soldiers in the army of Saul were afraid to approach him.

But David had a different understanding. Even though Goliath looked and acted like a giant, in contrast to the living God, Goliath was small. Since David had a right perspective of God, he could view the circumstances with a right view. For David, Goliath “was defying the armies of the living God” (1 Sam. 17:26). When Goliath was dressed in the military uniform, David stands before him in his shepherd’s clothes having his staff, a sling and five stones. What a contrast! David had confidence not in what he had but in Who was with him. He said to Goliath, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied” (1 Sam. 17:45).

What is the Goliath that you are facing today? It may be something impossible at work, a financial difficulty, or a strained relationship. With God, nothing is impossible. And nothing is too big for Him. If His will is to deliver you, He is able and He will do in ways you don’t expect. When faced with your challenges, do not tell God how big your problems are. Tell your problems how big your God is.
