Read: James 4:7-10
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” This is a wonderful promise. If we come to Him in humility, repentance, and brokenness, He draws near with love and forgiveness. There is no room for pride or self-sufficiency. Only if we are humble and show our helplessness will we experience the sufficiency of Him in our life. Many times, He uses situations, people, and difficulties to get our attention and kindle our thirst for Him. A painful or difficult situation is often His invitation to draw near to Him.
Even our greatest sins will be forgiven by the heavenly Father if we draw near to Him with humility and repentance. Through Christ, we can enter into an intimate and living relationship with God. However, if we are rebellious and do not repent (even daily), He will not reveal Himself to us. Sin is the hindrance to knowing God.
When you were faced with adversity or failures in life, did they pull you away from God or towards Him? The enemy Satan will try to misuse the situations that the Lord can utilize to draw you to Himself. As James 4:7 says, “… submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
