Read: John 14:2-3

While staying on this earth, we live in houses that are built by human hands, which have imperfections. Jesus Christ promised His disciples that He was going to prepare a place for them in heaven.

According to the Jewish tradition, after the betrothal ceremony the man would go and build a home for his new bride to stay. Prior to the wedding, the man sees to it that his house is completed before the wife can move in. The construction of the house would take maybe some months or maybe several years. Till then the new bride has to anticipate, wait and be prepared to join her husband. After the completion of the house, the man would gather his family and friends, and begin a wedding procession from his new home to the bride’s home. The bride’s virgin friends would wait along with her to receive the bridegroom (Matt. 25:1). The bride would go to meet her husband and together they would return to the new house where the wedding is conducted with food and festivities.

Jesus is our bridegroom (Isa. 54:5) and we, the church is His bride. Jesus has gone to prepare a dwelling place for us. We don’t know when He will come. Let the church be ready and be prepared for His arrival, like a wife who is arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints (Rev. 19:8). The church ought to be without any blemish or sin. The church, as a bride ought to take heed, watch and pray, for you do not know when the time is, when Jesus would come (Mark 13:33).

Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready” (Rev. 19:7). Are you prepared to keep yourself pure and holy for your bridegroom?
