Read: Genesis 32:22-31

Certain life circumstances can lead people into different kinds of addictions like drugs, alcohol, food, pornography, cult worship, etc. If help is not sought, they become victimised by it. If you cling to God in times of your trouble, He will definitely hear your prayers and deliver you from all your troubles. David prayed, “I sought the Lord and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears” (Ps. 34:4). The Lord’s arm is not shortened that it cannot save and He is not deaf that He cannot hear your prayers (Isa. 59:1). He weeps with you when you are sad and comforts you. “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit” (Ps. 34:18).

When Jacob was returning to Canaan after several years with his wives, children and possessions, he feared his brother Esau whom he had betrayed. Jacob had sent his family away and when he was alone, he wrestled with God. Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless You bless me” (Gen. 32:26). Jacob was persistent to seek God’s blessings for him and his family. Jacob clung to God. God kept His promise and preserved his family from his brother Esau.

If you are struggling with some difficulty, keep asking God for daily guidance. Keep on seeking Him always and keep on knocking until your prayers are answered (Matt. 7:7). Cling to Him alone, like Jacob did. He will lead you through the troubled waters and help you reach the safe shore. Trust in Him and Him alone.
