Read: 1 Corinthians 15:55

Researchers in the medical field are working hard to find a cure for cancer, a clue to the mystery of Alzheimer’s, and ways to find cures for other deadly diseases. But what if you wake up to the headlines saying “Death Destroyed.” Could you believe it?

The reality of death has caused fear in people of all ages. In fact, many people even now won’t like to think of their death or entertain thoughts about death. They somehow try to give very less thought to the real fact that they will die one day. The Bible says that for a believer in Christ, death has been destroyed, rendered incapable of doing what it once did. “So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory”” (1 Cor. 15:54).

This good news is for everyone who is willing to receive it, just as the angel told the shepherds when Jesus was born, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:10-11). The birth of Jesus was the beginning of the end for death. Paul the apostle said, “The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 15:56-57).

Do you fear death? Does the thought of death create unrest in you? Know that Jesus’ death on the cross has made it possible for a believer in Him not to fear death in any manner. A believer knows that his life and eternity are secure in Jesus. Can you surrender your life to Jesus and have rest in Him, and thereby not fear death?
