Read: Genesis 12

There can be situations when you are really not sure about tomorrow. Life can be full of uncertainties. God has promised His children that He will help them to cross through unforeseen situations. Abraham trusted in God completely as he left his pagan culture to follow the true Yahweh God. Although he did not start right away to reach the land that God tried to show him, God was patient with him. He had settled down in Haran first, although they were supposed to reach the land of Canaan (Gen. 11:31). Sometimes, we also resort to see what is best in our eyes than knowing what God has in store for us. God has arranged what is best for His children. It might require lot of time and patience from our part to wait on His promises.

Abraham trusted and believed in God’s promises that he would be known as the father of many nations (Gen. 17:5), though he didn’t have a son through Sarah till he was 100 years old. God promised him that his promised son would be through Sarah and not anyone else. Due to Sarah’s impatience, she gave Hagar as wife to Abraham, and Ishmael was born. Ishmael was not the promised son. When Isaac was born to Sarah and when her son was weaned, she saw Ishmael scoffing. So Sarah asked Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away. It greatly displeased Abraham to send Ishmael away (Gen. 21:8-11). When our future is unclear, taking shortcuts is not the answer. When we try to take shortcuts from the right path, God will not help us reach the destination.

Trust and obey that God will help you to sail through stormy waters. He will be the sailor of your boat. You just have to set your eyes on Jesus alone when your future seems to be unclear (Heb. 12:1-2). He will help you to reach the shore. He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Phil. 4:19). He will never leave us nor forsake us (Heb. 13:5). God has already planned our future, to give us hope and peace (Jer. 29:11). Then why should we worry about our future? Lay everything in God’s hands.
