Read: Ephesians 5:15-17

How do you use your time? The way you use your time reveals your values, beliefs, and priorities in life. We need to be good stewards of this passing gift. To do that, it is important to have the following in mind.

The first point to start is receiving Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, and accepting His lordship over your life. Any part of your life spent outside of God’s will is wasted time. The only way you will ever reach your true potential and experience true joy and prosperity is by personally knowing the One who created you.

Secondly, you should start praying. Prayer acts like a compass in your life. As you seek God’s will concerning your decisions or schedules through prayer, you will start to see things clearly and from God’s perspective. Even though Jesus was very busy in His ministry, He knew that the most valuable way He could use His time was to find a solitary place and commune with His Father.

Next, you have to walk daily in His will through obedience to Him no matter what. A believer who knowingly disobeys the Lord will be miserable and ineffective. You have to be obedient to the Lord’s leading and guidance in the small matters of your life in order to correctly discern and understand His will in the major decisions of your life. Obedience has no substitutes.

Lastly, it is good to write a mission statement for your life. God knows the plans He has for you. Ask Him about those plans, and as He reveals them gradually, plan on how to use the remainder of your earthly days. If you stick to the plan that God is showing you and if you commit yourself to it obediently, you will find that your time will be invested rather than simply ‘spent.’ Remember we have to give an account to God on how we spend our time on this earth.
